Check This Out I took all of the cartridges out and went over the points very lightly with an alcohol-based solution. (In this case, Antiseptic Wound Wash, as I had nothing else on hand). After one Black ink cartridge was expended, I bought new genuine ink cartridge from Epson. If the 'Ink cartridges cannot be recognised' message returns, try repeating this process once before moving to the next step. 2) Remove all ink cartridges and inspect the cartridge chips. This is the most common problem for Epson printers and it all revolves around Epsons unending pursuit to combat the compatible ink cartridge market and sell you their genuine inks. In saying this however it is still VERY common to have this problem even when using GENUINE Epson inks ! Then with frustration and no hopes left, I spit on the green chip and then wiped it roughly and put in back in the slot.
However, figured I didn't have anything to lose at that point, so I gently wiped the contacts on the cartridge with a damp finger. I buy my cartridges from Ink World but after much dialogue they will not admit that there version of cartridges is lower than the version number of the latest XP412.(even though others? I have bought all new ink cartliges and the printer is still saying that it needs ink.
